Scan VIN

How scanning and images work

Take a VIN photo or choose an existing VIN image. FlatRate.wiki sends the selected image privately to the server for barcode/OCR recognition. Recognition images are transient by default, are never posted to Community, and are only retained later if you explicitly choose the existing private inspection-evidence workflow. Manual VIN entry remains available.

Take a VIN photo, choose a VIN image, or enter the VIN manually.

Selected VIN images are processed privately on the server for barcode/OCR recognition. Recognition images are transient by default and are never posted to Community.

Manual entry

Enter all 17 VIN characters.

Recognized and manually entered VINs go straight to the NHTSA vehicle lookup. VINs and VIN images are private application data and are never included in public Community activity.

Privacy: selected VIN images are sent to FlatRate.wiki for private server-side barcode/OCR recognition and are discarded after that recognition request unless you explicitly save the image as private inspection evidence. Persisted VIN images stay in the private bucket tied to the private VIN, vehicle, technician account, and inspection. Neither the full VIN nor VIN images are published to Community; only the anonymous technician handle and normalized year/make/model activity are public. Manual VIN entry remains available.
