This Privacy Policy explains how FlatRate.wiki collects, uses, and shares information when you use the FlatRate.wiki website, account system, Community, VIN tools, and related services.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use FlatRate.wiki, we may collect:

• Account information, such as email address, verified phone number, authentication provider, and internal account identifiers.
• Community information, such as your public nickname or profile settings and content you choose to submit to the Community.
• Vehicle information, including VINs, decoded vehicle details, and repair or inspection context you submit.
• VIN scan images when you choose an image-based VIN recognition workflow. These images may be sent to FlatRate.wiki servers for barcode or OCR recognition. VIN scan images are not posted publicly to the Community as image content.
• Public email capture, when you choose to submit an email address through an information-page form. This may include general or business inquiry contact, Newsletter subscription, Shop wait-list interest, or Racing wait-list interest. Each of these purposes is separate; submitting one form does not enroll you in the others.
• Technical information, such as request metadata, browser or device information, and security or diagnostic logs needed to operate and protect the service.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate users, operate account and Community features, decode and confirm vehicle information, perform VIN recognition, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, improve FlatRate.wiki, and comply with legal obligations.

When you submit a public email-capture form, we use that email to respond to the specific request or to send the specific updates you opted into (for example Newsletter messages, Shop opening notices, or Racing project updates). You can unsubscribe from Newsletter or wait-list messages using the unsubscribe link provided in those messages. Business inquiry emails are handled as contact requests and are not treated as Newsletter consent. Shop wait-list signup does not enroll you in the Newsletter. Racing wait-list signup does not enroll you in the Newsletter.

When you create a FLATRATE.WIKI account, we may use your account email address to send the FLATRATE.WIKI newsletter and new Blog updates. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in each message. Unsubscribing from Newsletter and Blog updates does not prevent FLATRATE.WIKI from sending emails necessary to operate your account, provide authentication or security notices, respond to requests, or provide other service-related communications.

Public Community content

Community posts and profile information you choose to make public can be viewed by other people. FlatRate.wiki is designed to keep the account identity behind a contributor profile separate from the public Community identity, but rare vehicles, repairs, events, or details in a post may still be recognizable to someone familiar with them.

Service providers and third parties

FlatRate.wiki relies on service providers and data sources to operate features such as authentication, hosting, Community functionality, communications, email delivery, vehicle decoding, and infrastructure. We may provide those services with information needed to perform their functions. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business reorganization or transfer.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and integrity, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and preserve legitimate records. Retention can vary based on the type of information and how it is used. Email-capture records are retained while needed to handle the inquiry or subscription, honor unsubscribe requests, and maintain abuse-prevention or legal records.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can manage available account settings through your FlatRate.wiki account and available public profile settings through the Community profile. You can also choose not to submit optional Community or VIN information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as FlatRate.wiki changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we make material revisions.
